Grammar Tip: Present Continuous (Introduction).

Presente Continuo El presente continuo se usa para expresar:

Actividades en progreso justo en el momento en que hablamos.

• You can turn off the computer, I’m not using it.
• Don’t turn on the radio, your sister is studying!

Actividades que se realicen en torno al presente aunque no sea en el preciso momento:

• You are drinking much coffee these days.
• I’m studying Spanish and also working with my parents.

Actividades en progreso por un tiempo limitado en torno al presente:

• My brother is using my car because his is at the garage.
• My girlfriend’s pet is staying with me because she is travelling.

Situaciones que se están desarrollando en torno al presente.

• Tablets are becoming very popular.
• Hurricanes are getting stronger.

Actividades que ya tenemos planeadas para realizar en el futuro.

• We’re visiting my parents on Tuesday.
• What are you doing on Saturday night?

Aún nos faltaría hablar del modo –ing como gerundio, pero eso será tema de otra nota.
